One on one support with a caring adult has been proven to help children thrive in and out of the classroom. AARP Foundation’s Experience Corps has focused on helping students in early elementary school become great readers for the past 30 years and they need your expertise! The team at Metropolitan Family Service, a non-profit serving the Portland area, is actively recruiting tutors for the 2026-27 school year for the afterschool program at Hollydale Elementary. Join a team of great volunteers that provide reading support to students who need it. Tutors commit to two to three hours once or twice a week from September-May. No formal experience is required, just the desire to learn and grow together. Training, materials and ongoing collaboration are provided and some stipends are available.
